LIYSF
2011 will explore the future developments in the sciences, with
lecture demonstrations, specialist seminars and debates led by a
team of scientists and experts and scientific visits. |

LIYSF 2011
will have the underlying theme of “Energy – The Global Challenge”.
The theme will be addressed throughout LIYSF, including an in depth
specialist study day. |

January 2011 - Science Conference Confirms High Profile Speakers for Opening Ceremony
With interest mounting for this year’s prestigious LIYSF, the organisation is proud to announce the confirmed speakers at the 2011 Opening Ceremony. Lord Browne of Madingley, former Chairman of BP, will start proceedings, followed by Professor Nigel Brandon of Imperial College London.

LIYSF is a two week residential held at Imperial
College London, with lectures and demonstrations from leading
scientists, visits to industrial sites, research centres, scientific
institutions and organisations, including world class laboratories
and universities. LIYSF attracts over 300 of the world’s leading
young scientists aged 17-21 years old from more than 40
participating countries. There is an active social calendar with
events designed to enable those from around the world to learn about
different cultures. |

LIYSF 2009 celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a move to Imperial College London. Leading Physicist, Professor John Ellis, from the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) opened LIYSF 2009 as the key note speaker. Professor Lord Robert Winston, Emeritus Professor of Fertility Studies, Imperial College London welcomed students to LIYSF which had “Science Serving Mankind” as the main theme. |
