11 DAYS / 10 NIGHTS HISTORIC TRIANGULAR TOUR OF THE HEART OF AFRICA-GHANA
 
 
DAY 1 – ARRIVAL AND WELCOME CEREMONY

You are welcome to Ghana, feel at home and relax. You will be met on arrival and assisted at the Airport, transferred to your hotel, given a detail orientation on Ghana by our well trained and experienced representative. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2 – ACCRA CITY TOUR

After breakfast at the hotel, depart in the company of our experienced tour guide for a site seeing tour of the capital city of Ghana-Accra. The over126 years old city, features a blend of both colonial and modern architecture. Visit places of tourist appeal such as the Centre for National Culture, the W.E.B Dubois Centre for Pan African/Culture studies, the National Museum, the Independence square, and the busy markets of the city.

Over night in at the hotel.

Day 3 CAPE COAST CASTLE & ELMINA CASTLE

Depart for a drive to the Central Region to tour the infamous Forts, Castles and Slave Dungeons of Ghana. History will unfold the story of the slave trade which the impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today. Visit the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653 and was later taken over by the British. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994. After lunch, visit the Elmina Castle built by the Portuguese in 1482. Elmina castle is also known as St. George's Castle. This castle was the first European structure built in Sub – Saharan Africa. Overnight at hotel at Elmina.

Day 5 KAKUM NATIONAL PARK

Early morning departure for a drive through the historic former Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rainforests. Extending over 360sq km, Kakum is the home to over 40 large mammals and 400 bird species as well as many species of butterflies, flora and fauna. The most popular attraction is the Canopy walkway which is made up of seven bridges extending 330m, hanging 40m above the forest floor. Choose between a 2 km nature walk through this forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer or take a walk on the canopy walkway. After lunch, spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel at Asinmanso.

Day 6 ASSIN MANSO SLAVE RIVER AND SLAVE MARKET

The tour continuie to Kumasi today with a visit first to Asinmanso. Here you will be glad to visit “Donkor Nsu” which is porpularly known as the slave river. This river is where the captured slavs from the Northern part of the country take their last bath before being sent to the Cape Coast and Elmina castle to be transported to the western world.

After lunch visit the slave cemetery and market which is nearby. The Assin Manso Slave Market site is a relic linked to the slave route and appeals to thousands of travellers who troop to the site. The tombstones of two enslaved Africans who lived in Jamaica and New York and were re-interred can also be found there. Overnight at Kumasi.

Day 7 MANHIA/KUMASI CITY TOUR

Take a city tour of Kumasi after breakfast. Visit important places such as the residence of the King of the Ashante kingdome called the Manhia Palace, you can also take the opportunity to visit the ‘unmovable’ Sword of the Komfo Anokye remains in the grounds of the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he pushed it. It is believed the Komfo pronounced that no one would be able to remove the sword, and so it has remained in spite of many attempts. Take the opportunity to visit the Kejetia market which is the largest open-air market in West Africa. Overnight at Kumasi.

Day 8 CRAFT /CULTURAL VILLAGES OF THE ASANTI REGION

Get a feel of the culture of the People of the Asanti Region today, take the opportunity to visit some of the cultural villages of the Asanti region such as Bonwire- the home of the popular Asante Kente cloth, the Awhia wood caving village, Ntonsu where the local Adinkra cloth is produced., the natural lake Bosumtwe site and a lot more. Overnight at Kumas.

Day 9 BOBIRI FOREST

Come le us get closer to nature. Depart from the hotel after breakfast heading towards Accra to visit the Bobiri Forest. This forest is about 54.4sq km of virgin, semi-deciduous tropical rain forest, with many tall and ancient trees. It has a arboretum with beautiful landscape grounds, and flower gardens to attract the over 500 species of butterflies in the forest. It is also ideal for picnics and other social gatherings. Over night at Accra.

Day 10 DAY FOR SHOPPING AND RELAXATION AT THE LA BEACH

Today will be a day to relax after twelve days of touring Ghana. After breakfast dash out to the Centre for National Culture and Markola market to buy souvenirs for yourself and loved ones back home. After lunch relax at the La pleasure beach. Overnight at Accra. 

Day 11 PREDEPARTURE FORMALITIES/ DEPARTURE

After breakfast relax at the hotel, depart to the airport for the departure formalities. Return and relax at the hotel preparing for departure later in the night.
