THE LAND OF LEGENDS

Day 1 - AKWAABA-WELCOME

Arrive in Accra, Ghana. Transfer from airport to your hotel. Welcome drink and orientation. Overnight at Hotel in Accra.

Day 2 - ACCRA CITY TOUR

After breakfast depart hotel for a sightseeing city tour of Accra. You will drive through the administrative and economic districts of Accra, the capital of Ghana. This124-year-old city with has a blend of colonial and modern architecture that summarize her history. You will visit the W. E. B. Dubois Center for Pan African Culture, Independence/ Black Star Square and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. After lunch in a local Ghanaian restaurant, you will end your tour at the Arts Centre where you will have an opportunity to use your bargaining skills to shop from an open-air market for artifacts from Ghana and West Africa. Overnight in Accra.   

Day 3 - VOLTA RIVER BOAT CRUISE (Sundays only)

Breakfast at hotel. depart to Akosombo Port to cruise on the largest man-made lake in the world. Aboard the “Dodi Princess” you will dance to the sweet sounds of live highlife music played by the cruise ship resident band. Enjoy the calm of the lake and bask in the beauty of the mountain scenery and surrounding. Lunch can be bought on board. Return to Accra in late afternoon. Overnight at hotel in Accra.

Day 4 - ADA BEACH

Depart for a scenic drive to Ada on the Eastern fringes of the Greater Accra Region. Visit the village of Azizanya on the estuary of the Volta River . The Elders of the village will take you through their fishing culture and explain how they are able to navigate the estuary which has an under current of over seven knots. Spend the remainder of the day engaging in any of the following: canoeing, jet skiing, pedallo, or a range of water sports on the Volta River or simply relax and enjoy the view. (Rates for water sports are not included in package price). Return to Accra. Overnight at hotel in Accra.

Day 5 - CAPE COAST CASTLE & ELMINA CASTLE

Depart for a drive to the Central Region to tour the infamous Forts, Castles and Slave Dungeons of Ghana. History will unfold the story of the slave trade which the impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today. Visit the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653 and was later taken over by the British. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994. After lunch, visit the Elmina Castle built by the Portuguese in 1482. Elmina castle is also known as St. George's Castle. This castle was the first European structure built in Sub – Saharan Africa. Overnight at hotel in Elmina

Day 6 - KAKUM NATIONAL PARK 

Early morning departure for a drive through the historic former Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rainforests. Extending over 360sq km, Kakum is the home to over 40 large mammals and 400 bird species as well as many species of butterflies, flora and fauna. The most popular attraction is the Canopy walkway which is made up of seven bridges extending 330m, hanging 40m above the forest floor. Choose between a 2 km nature walk through this forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer or take a walk on the canopy walkway. After lunch, spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel at Elmina.

Day 7- NZULENZU – VILLAGE OF STILT

After an early morning breakfast at the hotel, depart westwards along the beautiful coast of the central region to visit a village of over 500 people on a stilt popularly called Nzulenzu meaning on stilt. You have the privilege to ride in a wooden but safe canoe boat on the lake tadana on whish the village is. After lunch, take a ride Nkruful to visit the birth place of Ghana’s 1st and most remembered President Osagyfu Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Where you will see his final resting place and that of her mother. Overnight at Ankasa.

Day 8 - ANKASA – BUABENG - FIEMA

Depart after breakfast to the Ankasa Conservation Area which is a twin wildlife protection area comprising of Nini-Suhien National Park and the Ankasa Resource Reserve. It is about 500km ˛ you will be blessed with the opportunity to see some wild life including birds in the natural habitat. Overnight at Boabeng 

Day 9 - BOABENG – FIEMA-MOLE NATIONAL PARK.

Depart to the Boabeng –Fiema Monkey Sanctuary. This is also a twin town conservation program to conserve the Mona monkey which is in extinction. The people in this community live harmoniously with the monkeys with the believe that they have a relationship with their ancestors. Overnight at Mole. 

Day 10 - MOLE NATIONAL PARK

Today continue your tour of the National Parks of Ghana, after breakfast visit the Mole National Park which is the biggest. The Mole National Park is the home of many wild life including elephants, antelopes, monkeys and other animals found in the tropical forest. After lunch take a tour to the Larabaga mosque which is just a few meters from the park. Overnight at the Mole National Park motel. This will afford you the chance to see some of the animals nocturnal and only come out in the night to feed.

Day 11 - MOLE NATIONAL PARK – PAGA CROCODILE POND - KUMASI

Take a visit to the upper eastern part of Ghana to visit the Paga crocodile pond to see how the Paga Crocodile Pond was originally a sacred sanctuary for crocodiles, come and watch hordes of eager crocodiles responding to the summons of the attendants.

The animals are also kept as sacred animals and the local communities believe that their ancesstpors have some relashinship with the animals. After lunch, depart south to Kumasi. Overnight at Kumasi.

Day 12 - MANHIA/KUMASI CITY TOUR

Take a city tour of Kumasi after breakfast. Visit important places such as the residence of the King of the Ashante kingdome called the Manhia Palace, you can also take the opportunity to visit some of the cultural villages of the Asante region such as Bonwire- the home of the popular Asante Kente cloth, the Awhia wood caving village, Ntonsu where the local adinkra cloth is produced, the natural lake bosumtwe site and a lot more. Depart in the evening to Accra.

Day 13 - RELAXATION AND INDIVIDUAL MOVEMENT/ SHOPPING. 

Today will be a day to relax after twelve days of touring Ghana. After breakfast dash out to the Centre for National Culture and Markola market to buy souvenirs for yourself and loved ones back home. After lunch relax at the La pleasure beach. Overnight at Accra. 

Day 14 - DAY OF DEPARTURE BACK HOME

After breakfast relax at the hotel, depart later to the airport for the departure formalities. Return and relax at the hotel preparing for departure later in the night.

Single Supplement: The cost of this tour is based on 2 people sharing a room. In cases where there is only one person in a room, that person will pay a single supplement of $395.00
