"Au pair" is a french expression meaning "at the same level" - the expression is used because an au pair is considered to be a member of the  family and not as a servant, for the duration that the individual is staying with the family. This means that an au pair is not an employeer, or considered as a domestic help.

For room, board, a stipend and a language course or another relevant educational programme, the au pair also provides child care services, and just as the Aupair would do in her own home, also helps around with house chores

The aurpair programme is considered a win win situation.  The Aupair wishes to experience another culture, a different country, while the host family also wishes for some extra assistance at home.

Host families are as different as au pairs and vice versa. Families require different qualifications and applicants have different expectations. What Prime Aupairs seeks to do, is to try to match the Aupair to the host family to the mutual benefit of the two parties.
